LEGO Collection

This is my LEGO collection. I started playing with LEGO when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Sadly I don't have any of those sets. I didn't keep good care of them when I was little, and also didn't know how valuable or how much joy they would bring me as an adult.

The collection today started in 2009 with set #21005 LEGO Architecture Series Fallingwater. And then grew from there...focusingi on the Architecture Series, then the Ideas line, Harry Potter, and then basically any "large build" sets (mostly anything over 1000 bricks).
I track the collection on BrickEconomy, and then periodically update the Google sheet that is used to populate them on this page - it's pretty slick that Google allows you to embed data from other products into your blog!

Here's the stats:
Total Number of Sets: 344
Total Number of Bricks: 338,604
Total Number of Mini-figs: 743

Which set is my favorite?
They are just like children, you can't have a favorite...but if I had to choose, then they are:

Falling Water (set #21005) - the one that started it all...
Hogwarts Castle (set #71043) - it's an amazing set and really the first "big set" I did!
Concorde (set #10318) - I never flew in it, but I did see it a couple of times at Dulles Airport.
World Map (set #31203) - we put 'pins' on it for the places we've been.
Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder (set #75341) - when the movie was originally released, I got the Hasbro version of the Luke's Landspeeder, and it was hte only Star Wars toy I ever got, no action figures, just the landspeeder.

What set is my least favorite?
That's easy the Colosseum (set #10276). And it's not because it's a repetitve build or anything like that. When we moved from our last place to the current one, we finally found a box (that wasn't the size of a small nation) that it would fit in. When I went to pack it in the box, it shifted, and fell apart. I put all the pieces in a bag - I know this because there was nothing else in the room at the time, and packed that with what was left of the the Colosseum in the box.

We move into the new place and get everything where needs it needs to be. The Colosseum wasn't sent to storage like the other sets, so once my office shelves were in place I started with that one. The build manual was in storage though (I keep all my build instructions) so I used the electronic ones via my iPad. First attempt I am short like 9 pieces. I work backwards the forward again, short more pieces. I went back and forth like this for at least 6 more times, each time I would be short or incredibly have extra pieces, the whole time I knew that I had all the pieces in the box when I packed it. On the 9th attempt, I took everything except for the base apart. I sorted every one of those bricks by size and shape and put them in bins and ziploc bags, a process which took me three nights. Then I set out to build. The 9th time was the charm. That's why it's my least favorite.

What set do I want the most?
Sydney Opera House (set #10234). I have wanted this one for years, I wasn't a huge collector when it was released and it is now retired. I keep looking for it on ebay, bricklinks and groups on Facebook. One day it will be mine!
